Citizenship Grants
The Somerville Public Library in partnership with St. Mark Community Education Program offers a free, 10 week U.S. Citizenship Preparation class twice per year. In addition, the library offers virtual citizenship tutoring year round.
The citizenship program prepares eligible candidates for the citizenship interview including the 100 civics questions, the reading & writing sections, and interview questions based on their N-400 application. The program also provides referrals to other non-profit organizations for free legal advice and application assistance.
Since 2019, the citizenship program has had 32 candidates achieve U.S. citizenship.
The Somerville Public Library Foundation offers scholarships to help students cover the cost of citizen application filing fees.
